KDSF-National Centre Collaboration with USM – Shared Book Reading Training of Trainers Program

On 5 and 6 May 2025, ten of our teachers participated in the Shared Book Reading (SBR) Training of Trainers (ToT) program conducted by Dr. Phoon from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). The training aimed to equip our team with the skills needed to effectively facilitate the SBR program. Following this, our trained teachers successfully conducted an SBR workshop for parents on 14 June 2025, with approximately 30 participants in attendance.

Shared Book Reading is a literacy practice in which an adult and child read a book together, with the adult actively guiding and engaging the child to support their language and literacy development.

KDSF-Johor Bahru Sports and Family Day

On 24 May 2025, KDSF-JB held our annual Sports and Family Day on school grounds, kicking off with a vibrant parade, with each group proudly dressed in their respective team colours. KDSF-JB students then participated in a series of track and field events, featuring five specially designed activities tailored to the abilities of each group.

The excitement continued with family-oriented games, including fun-filled competitions for siblings, parent duos, and entire families—making it a joyful and inclusive celebration for all.   

   

KDSF-Melaka Visitation from MiCOST

On 13 May 2025, a group of 22 students from MiCOST, Semester 2 and 3 of the Early Childhood Education program, visited and spent meaningful time with our students. Together, they carried out a variety of fun and engaging activities, including music and movement, gross motor sports exercises, art and craft, as well as making banana and strawberry smoothies.

The event was further honoured by the presence of YB Senator Datuk Hj. Mustafa bin Musa, who graciously distributed door gifts and duit raya to the students, adding to the joy of the occasion.

 

KDSF-Klang Little Explorers’ Adventure Day

10th April- In the early hours of the morning, approximately thirty individuals gathered to establish eight imaginative play stations for the children, including a Clinic, Cooking, Fire Brigade, Scientist, Karaoke, Dancing, and more. They graciously sponsored everything, including lunch, door gifts, and presents for all attendees.

KDSF-Melaka World Down Syndrome Day 2025

World Down Syndrome Day was celebrated on 22 March 2025 with great joy and togetherness. A total of 30 staff and management members from AFA Group joined the celebration with our students. In the spirit of the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri, AFA Group graciously helped decorate the school and generously donated two swimming pools (measuring 4 x 8 feet) for water therapy use. They also supported the centre by upgrading two of our therapy rooms.

All KDSF Melaka students attended the event with their parents. The highlight of the day was a heartfelt performance by the students, who took to the stage to sing “A Thousand Years” using Makaton movements. Each student received a door gift and enjoyed refreshments sponsored by AFA Group, making it a truly memorable occasion for all.

KDSF-National Centre Chinese New Year Celebration

KDSF-NC was honoured to be invited by Thean Hou Temple to their annual Children’s Party in celebration of Chinese New Year, held on 15 February 2025. A total of 40 students and staff enjoyed the festive activities.

In addition, KDSF-NC held its own in-house Chinese New Year celebration on 22 February, led by the dedicated teachers of the Toddler class. The event brought together around 30 students and over 100 family members. Highlights included a vibrant lion dance performance by Persatuan Kanak-kanak Taman Megah.

We were also deeply grateful for the support of six volunteers from Equinix Malaysia, whose presence added warmth and energy to the occasion. The event was graced by Mr. Cheam Tat Inn, Managing Director of Equinix Malaysia, who presented a mock cheque in recognition of their generous sponsorship of tablets and iPads for KDSF-NC, aimed at supporting AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) use among our students.
