KDSF-NATIONAL CENTRE BRINGING COLOUR, COMMUNITY, AND LOVE TO OUR WALLS

🎨💛 Our wall is coming to life!
This past weekend, on 20 and 21 June 2026, our KDSF-National Centre mural got a beautiful splash of colour — thanks to the incredible kids and parents from Biebobu Debbie Art House, who kicked off this special project with so much heart!

Despite the hot weather ☀️, everyone showed up with big smiles, teamwork, and lots of love — including dads joining in to celebrate Father’s Day 👨‍👧‍👦💙

A huge thank you to Debbie and Irene for coordinating it all, to Joanne and Angela for volunteering on the preparation painting work, and to Ms Yinn, our ex-parent, who generously adopted a wall and brought her children Noelle and Nathan along to paint! 🌈

Swipe through to see our wall slowly transforming — and stay tuned, this is just the beginning! ✨

👉 Want to join our next painting session? Want to support us by adopting a wall? Drop us a message — we’d love to have you!

We are on a mission to build a more inclusive world that celebrates the unique abilities and joy that individuals with Down syndrome bring to our lives. Stay tuned as we bring this wall to life! 🧱✨

KDSF-NATIONAL CENTRE BRINGING OUR MURAL TO LIFE

On the 26th of May 2026, our artists, Debbie Yap and Irene Ling, with the support of Kiwanis Club of Kuala Lumpur member Joanne Sin, were on-site today sketching the initial outlines for the mural at KDSF National Centre. These early sketches form the foundation for a vibrant artwork that will transform the space while celebrating creativity, inclusion, and community spirit.

We look forward to sharing more progress as the mural takes shape.

Expanding Opportunities: Sensory Room Installed at KDSF Melaka Centre

We’re delighted to share another exciting milestone in our sensory room project!

On 4 June 2026, the team from Nozig Inclusive successfully completed the installation of the sensory room at KDSF Melaka Centre.

The new sensory room provides children with Down Syndrome a dedicated therapeutic space designed to support sensory regulation, improve focus, encourage exploration, and create positive learning experiences through carefully selected sensory equipment.

This marks another important step in extending the benefits of sensory-based intervention to more KDSF students beyond our National Centre.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Star Foundation for making this project possible through the Star Social Impact Grant (SSIG). Their generous support continues to help us provide more inclusive learning environments and better developmental opportunities for children with Down Syndrome.

Our heartfelt thanks also go to Nozig Inclusive for ensuring every installation is completed with great care and professionalism.

We look forward to seeing many meaningful moments unfold in this new sensory space!

KDSF Wall Adoption & Community Mural Initiative “Celebrating the Beauty of Innocence”

Our wall mural project initiative at Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation-National Centre officially moves forward through the support, collaboration, and shared vision of many caring individuals and organisations.

From the first official discussion with our artists, to the preparation works that will be carried out by Rotol Group of Companies, and the generous paint sponsorship by MCI Paints, every contribution plays an important role in transforming our centre into a more vibrant, inspiring, and welcoming environment for our children and families.

On 16 & 17 May 2026, the dedicated team from Rotol Group of Companies carried out important preparation works for our mural project. Their team cleaned the wall, completed repair works, and applied a sealer coating to ensure the surface is ready for the mural installation.

Thank you to Rotol Group of Companies for your effort and support in helping us create a strong foundation for what’s to come. We look forward to bringing this wall to life soon!

KDSF National Centre Equipping Our Team: Sensory Room Training for Teachers and Therapists

A sensory room is only as effective as the people who bring it to life.

Following the completion of our sensory room at KDSF National Centre, our teachers and therapists recently participated in a comprehensive training session to learn how to maximise the benefits of the new sensory environment for every child.

The training covered:
• Appropriate use of each piece of sensory equipment
• Matching sensory activities to each child’s individual needs
• Safety procedures and best practices
• Piloting the Sensory Room Guidelines
• Piloting the Sensory Room Recording Form to monitor children’s responses and progress

This training marks an important milestone as we begin integrating sensory room sessions into our Early Intervention Programme. Through careful observation and documentation, our team will continue refining our practices to ensure each child receives meaningful and personalised sensory experiences.

We are excited to begin this journey and look forward to seeing how the sensory room supports our children’s development, emotional regulation, engagement, and learning.

Building Brighter Futures: Our Sensory Room Installation Begins at KDSF-National Centre

Exciting progress is underway at the Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation – National Centre (KDSF-NC)!

On 17 March 2026, our sensory room took a major step towards becoming a reality as the team from Nozig Inclusive arrived to install our specialised sensory equipment. Carefully designed to support children with Down Syndrome, the sensory room will provide a safe, calming, and engaging environment where children can explore, regulate their emotions, improve focus, and develop essential sensory and motor skills.

From bubble tubes and sensory lighting to interactive sensory panels and tactile equipment, every installation brings us one step closer to creating a space that will enrich our Early Intervention Programme and better support the unique needs of our students.

This project would not have been possible without the generous support of Star Foundation through the Star Social Impact Grant (SSIG). Their contribution has enabled us to create meaningful learning environments that will positively impact the lives of children with Down Syndrome and their families.

A heartfelt thank you to Star Foundation for believing in our vision, and to Nozig Inclusive for their professionalism and dedication throughout the installation process.

We can’t wait to officially welcome our children into this wonderful new space and witness the positive impact it will have on their learning and development.

KDSF-Melaka Visitation from MiCOST

On 13 May 2025, a group of 22 students from MiCOST, Semester 2 and 3 of the Early Childhood Education program, visited and spent meaningful time with our students. Together, they carried out a variety of fun and engaging activities, including music and movement, gross motor sports exercises, art and craft, as well as making banana and strawberry smoothies.

The event was further honoured by the presence of YB Senator Datuk Hj. Mustafa bin Musa, who graciously distributed door gifts and duit raya to the students, adding to the joy of the occasion.

KDSF-Melaka World Down Syndrome Day 2025

World Down Syndrome Day was celebrated on 22 March 2025 with great joy and togetherness. A total of 30 staff and management members from AFA Group joined the celebration with our students. In the spirit of the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri, AFA Group graciously helped decorate the school and generously donated two swimming pools (measuring 4 x 8 feet) for water therapy use. They also supported the centre by upgrading two of our therapy rooms.

All KDSF Melaka students attended the event with their parents. The highlight of the day was a heartfelt performance by the students, who took to the stage to sing “A Thousand Years” using Makaton movements. Each student received a door gift and enjoyed refreshments sponsored by AFA Group, making it a truly memorable occasion for all.
