Special Education Programme (SEP) – 4 to 6 years old
SEP caters children aged 4-6 years old. Children comes 4 times a week for 3 hours a day. The program focuses on preparing the students to be ready to attend the Special Education classes in the typical Government schools.
The programme is conducted very similar to the kindergaten programme. Students are expected to be more independent and be able to follow simple commands. They are given the opportunity and freedom to play and explore and at the same time, students are taught to refine their language and pre-academic skills.
In SEP, self-help or independence skills and social skills are given great emphasis. Our main objective is to assist the students to achieve their maximum potentials. With the therapists and teachers’ joint effort, students are taught basic fundamental skills and they are prepared to participate in a modified competitive sports such as football. Students are also given plenty of sensory-rich and hands-on activities. Parents and teachers work together and the students are encouraged to get their little hands working and be enterprising during their canteen day. Students are also encouraged to do their tasks independently whether it would be coloring, matching, reading, etc.
Like typical kindergartens the Centre organizes Sports Day and Graduation ceremony every year for the graduates of the Centre.
